Go Skiing

Of course, the first thing that you need to include on your schedule is to go skiing, snowboarding, or snowshoeing with your friends. There are tons of trails for you to choose from that range from easy blue beginner trails to hard, black diamond runs that whizz you down the mountain. Spring offers long days of prime skiing and snowboarding weather with fewer people, so you can cruise at your own speed.

You can use your season pass, or buy a weekend pass, to use at the Stowe Mountain Resort all the way through mid-April, so you never have to worry about getting to the mountain too late in the year. Not sure where to start? Check out the website to see the mountain formation to find out what lifts are open and the best trails for your skill level.

There are more than 12 lifts, 116 trails, and one terrain park at this resort, so there is truly something for everyone. If you are an intermediate skier, you’re in luck with more than half of the trails geared towards your skill set. Start with one of the green trails, like Crossover, Dalton, Lower Tyro, or Jake’s Ride.

Once you are feeling more comfortable, take the gondola up Hackett’s Highway to try your luck at Lower Lord, Christiana, Upper T-Line, and tons of other blue trails that wind you through the pristine pine forest and open slopes. No matter which path you choose, you will have incredible views the whole way down.

Grab a Drink for Après Ski

After you spend the entire day shredding fresh powder on the slopes, it is time for a drink (or a few). Luckily for you, there are tons of good bars, breweries, distilleries, and wineries right in the heart of Stowe and the surrounding mountain towns. We recommend going to Rimrocks Mountain Tavern, the Matterhorn, and Doc Pond’s for your first time in Stowe, VT.

Rimrock is a classic pub that is right on the main street, offering great appetizers, large pores of craft beer, and a game room that is great for challenging one another to a friendly game of pool or foosball as you wait for your food. This bar also has outdoor seating and live music some days of the week, so you can head here to chat with locals, liven up the evening, and have a few drinks with your pals.

The Matterhorn is great for mountain lovers who want to feel like they are indulging in après skiing after going on a long ski or snowboard day through the Swiss mountainside. This popular spot is a dimly lit wooden bar that is ideal for post-slope eats, hangs, and brews. Head here any night of the week to go dancing with your friends, play pool, and sip on some craft beer. We recommend ordering one of the hearty appetizers, sitting by the fireplace, and letting your ski boots dry on the wooden floor.
